Using Mersive Solstice for Wireless Display

Introduction

Mersive's Solstice Pod is a wireless display device, allowing easy and intuitive collaboration in classroom and meeting spaces using any laptops, tablets or phone. Downloading the client to your device allows you to share and collaborate to any Pod installed on Xavier's campus.  Note: You must be connected to xavierwireless to use Solstice.

Downloading the Solstice Client

The Solstice client is available for Mac, Windows, and mobile devices. To get the installer:

  • PC/Mac - Open a web browser and go to the URL listed in the upper-right corner of the Solstice Pod's welcome screen. The page that loads will include  a download link for the Solstice client. 
  • Mobile devices - Open a web browser on your device and go to the URL listed in the upper-right corner of the Solstice Pod's welcome screen; you will be redirected to the appropriate mobile store to install the Solstice app.

Connecting to Solstice using a laptop

  1. Ensure you are connected to Xavierwireless then run the Solstice client. Run the Solstice client. On first launch, you will be prompted to enter your name. This helps distinguish your content while collaborating with others. Mac users will be prompted to grant additional permissions in the Security preference pane.
  2. The client will display available Solstice Pods. Click on the Solstice Pod you want to connect to. (You can also search the list for a specific Pod by typing a building name or room number into the  field.)


     
  3. Enter the 4-digit access code listed on the Solstice Pod's welcome screen:


     
  4. Choose a sharing method. You can share your entire desktop, an open application window, or stream a media file directly from your hard drive. Full audio sharing support is provided for sharing Desktop or a Media File.


     
 

Connecting to Solstice using a mobile device

  1. Once you've installed the Solstice client, tap on it to run it. On first launch, you will be prompted to enter your name. This helps distinguish your content when collaborating with others.
  2. Tap on the Solstice Pod you wish to connect to. If Pods are not listed, enter the IP address listed on your Pod's welcome screen.
  3. Enter the 4-character access code listed on the Solstice Pod's welcome screen.
  4. Pick a sharing method. You can stream live video from your device's camera, display videos or pictures, or mirror the device's screen. For sharing to work correctly, you need to grant access when prompted by your device.
  5. To mirror the screen under iOS, click Mirror Screen. Follow the instructions to enable Airplay on your device and toggle Mirroring on.
