Microsoft Azure Cloud Authentication

Summary

This article describes the Azure Cloud Authentication cutover and the affect it will have on your Xavier account.

Body

Xavier is moving to Microsoft Azure Cloud Authentication in order to take advantage of Microsoft's self-service password reset and multi-factor authentication tools. In the event of disaster, Xavier will retain its ability to authenticate and access critical systems that are cloud-hosted.

Effective March 15, 2021, IT will cut over to Azure cloud authentication for Office365. Other systems will follow, such as the Banner and Canvas administrative and learning systems.

As a side effect of the cutover process, you will be logged out of all Office 365 applications (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams etc.) and asked to re-authenticate once the cutover occurs.

To see the effect of the change, follow these steps:

  1. Browse to mail on the HUB and select Email or browse to https://mail.xavier.edu
  2. You will notice the changed appearance of the Xavier-branded login screen, asking for your email address at first login
  3. Enter your Xavier email address and click Next.

  4. Enter your Xavier password and click Sign In.

  5. You are now authenticated with Microsoft Azure. For more information on enrolling and using Microsoft Self Service Password Reset (SSPR), please consult the article on the Related Articles sidebar.
