Finding a Networked Device's MAC address

Due to the wide variety of devices, a comprehensive list is not feasible. If your device is not mentioned below, please consult support documentation or website for that device. Googling the name of the device along with "find MAC address" is another option, if documentation is unavailable.

In this article:

 

 Mac OS X

  1. Select System Preferences from the  menu at the top left of your screen. 


     
  2. Click  Network  from the System Preferences menu.

  3. Select Wifi (wireless) or Ethernet  (wired) from the list of interfaces and click the Advanced button.

  4. Click the Hardware tab. The MAC address will be listed there.

 Windows 7

  1. Click on the Start menu.
  2. Type "cmd" in the search box and press Enter.


     
  3. Click on cmd in the list of programs. A command prompt will open.
  4. Type "ipconfig /all" and hit Enter.
  5. Locate your network card in the list.
    • A wired network card is listed as Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.
    • A wireless network card is listed as Wireless Adapter Wireless Network Connection.
  6. The MAC address is listed under your network card's info as Physical Address.

Windows 8

  1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. Type "cmd" and press Enter to launch a command prompt.
  3. Type "ipconfig /all" and press Enter
  4. The MAC address is listed under the appropriate adapter as Physical Address.

Windows 10

  1. Right-click on  and select Command Prompt from the menu.
  2. Type "ipconfig /all" and press Enter
  3. Locate your network card in the list.
    • A wired network card is listed as Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.
    • A wireless network card is listed as Wireless Adapter Wireless Network Connection.
  4. The MAC address is listed under your network card's info as Physical Address.

 PlayStation 3

  1. From the PS3 main startup screen (XMB), select Settings.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Select System information. This screen will display your PS3's MAC address.

 PlayStation 4

  1. Turn on your PlayStation 4 without any disk in the drive and wait for the menu to pop up.
  2. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left.)
  3. Select the System icon under the Settings menu.
  4. Select System Information. You will see the MAC address listed on this screen.

 Xbox 360

  1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
  2. Select Edit Settings.
  3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
  4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address. Use this MAC address for both wired and wireless network connectivity.

 Xbox One

  1. Turn on your Xbox One and navigate to My Games & Apps
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the settings pane, select Network.
  4. Select Advanced Settings. Record the Wired MAC address on this screen.
