Managing Junk Email in Outlook Web Access (OWA)

When a new email is received, it is first checked against your junk email filter. If the message is considered to be unwanted or unsolicited email based on the junk mail filter, it will be placed in the “Junk E-mail” folder instead of your Inbox.


 


  Marking Email as Junk

To manually mark a specific email message as junk:

  1. Put a check in the box next to the message.
  2. Locate and click on the Junk icon in your toolbar.


     
  3. From the pulldown, choose Junk.

  Marking Email as Not Junk

  1. Locate the message in your Junk folder.
  2. Put a check in the box next to the message. Click the Not Junk icon on your toolbar.


     
  3. The mail will be unmarked and returned to your Inbox folder.

 Adding Addresses to the Junk Filter

  1. In OWA, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and click the View All Outlook Settings.
  2. Click on Mail >> Junk email.


     
  3. Under Blocked Email Addresses, click on Add, and type in the email address you wish to block. 


     
  4. Hit Enter to complete the process.
