Expiration of Alumni Accounts

As oft-reported in the news, cybersecurity threats continue to emerge around the world. Xavier University sees itself in the crosshairs of cybercriminals when its email accounts are compromised, then used to send out spam or phishing emails to unsuspecting colleagues. To increase the effectiveness of our security, Xavier University will be implementing additional layers of authentication and protection to limit our exposure to such attacks.

The long-term costs associated with extending this protection to alumni accounts is unsustainable, and as a result, we will no longer provide alumni e-mail accounts in perpetuity. While we share your disappointment with this turn of events, we must take all necessary steps to protect sensitive data held by Xavier University and its account holders.  

All existing alumni accounts will be purged on on 10/31/2021, without ability to be recovered. Email accounts held by class of 2021 graduates (and beyond) will now expire one year from graduation. 


Prior to this deadline, please take the following actions:

  • Update your information with the Xavier Alumni Office to continue to receive information about Alumni events, news, and resources.
  • Remove any valuable contacts, documents, and other information from your Xavier account.
  • If any commercial, financial social media, or other online services are currently linked in any way to your Xavier account for password recovery etc, update those services to use an alternate personal email address
