Installing the VMware View client for Virtual Desktop

If you have never used this service before, please read the Frequently Asked Questions section. There are certain caveats which apply to the Virtual Lab. For example, any data saved on the C:\ drive will not be retained after log-off, similar to a lab computer.

Windows Setup and Connection Instructions:

  1. Download the VMware Horizon View client from the landing page at https://virtualpc.xavier.edu:


     
  2. Run the installer that you just downloaded.
  3. Click Next through each of the prompts.
  4. When prompted to specify the Default View Connection Server, enter the hostname: virtualpc.xavier.edu.
  5. Click Next through each of the following prompts, and then Install.
  6. Launch the VMware View Client and click Connect.
  7. You will be connected to a virtual desktop.

Mac OSX Setup and Connection Instructions:

  1. Download the VMware Horizon View client from the landing page at https://virtualpc.xavier.edu:

  2. Run the installer that you just downloaded.
  3. Click Agree, and drag the VMware View client into the Applications folder.
  4. Launch the VMware View client from the Applications folder.
  5. Click on the Add Server cloud and enter the hostname: virtualpc.xavier.edu.
  6. Enter your credentials, with the Domain set to XAVIER, and then double-click on the Online Lab PC.
  7. You will be connected to a virtual desktop.

iOS (iPhone, iPad) Setup and Connection Instructions:

  • Search for the free VMware Horizon View Client in the App Store.
  • Install the app.
  • Click the + sign in the upper left corner.
  • Enter the hostname: virtualpc.xavier.edu and click Connect.
  • Enter your credentials, with the Domain set to XAVIER, and then click Done.
  • Select the Online Lab.
  • You will be connected to a virtual desktop.

Android Setup and Connection Instructions:

  • Search for the free VMware Horizon View Client in the Google Play store.
  • Install the app.
  • Launch the app, and click Add Server, entering the server name: virtualpc.xavier.edu
  • Click Connect.
  • Enter your credentials, with the Domain set to XAVIER, and then click Connect again.
  • Select: Online Lab.
  • You will be connected to a virtual desktop.
