Unable to License Office 365 Mac Edition

On occasion, personal Mac computers may encounter difficulties licensing Office365. Error messages may vary but the end result is that the program refuses to license properly.

Causes

There may be numerous causes of this issue, mostly surrounding botched or mixed installations of Office products.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

  1. Close all Office apps on the computer.
  2. Download and run the Office License Removal Tool.
  3. Download and run the Microsoft Activation Troubleshooter script.
  4. Reboot your Mac.
  5. Try activating Office by signing into the Outlook application with your Xavier credentials.
