Stolen or Lost Employee Laptops

If your Xavier laptop has been lost or stolen, follow these steps depending on where the incident occurred:

  1. If the incident occurred on campus, immediately file a report with Xavier Police and notify your direct supervisor.
  2. If the incident occurred off-campus, immediately file a report with local police and any businesses where the laptop was last seen (hotel, taxi, airport etc). Also notify your direct supervisor.
  3. Contact Information Technologies at 745-4357 during business hours or open a ticket immediately. We can arrange for a loaner laptop if available, and might be able to trace the last known location of the laptop if it is somewhere on campus.
     
In the event of an unrecoverable stolen or lost laptop, the department is expected to pay for any replacement. The above steps do not apply to accidental damage or acts of God; such instances should be reported to the Loss Prevention office as those may be covered by insurance.
