Changing or Resetting Your Xavier Password

Your Xavier account password can be changed by logging into the Password Manager website.

When changing your password, keep the following guidelines in mind:

Before changing your password

  • Passwords must be a minimum of 12 characters. Longer passwords are harder to guess. Include at least one uppercase letter and one number.
  • Stronger passwords needn’t be hard to remember. Pick a phrase, a song title or your favorite verse and include required elements (uppercase, numbers) as needed.
  • Allowed special characters are: ! % * + - / : ?_ ' ;
  • Do not use easily-guessed words and patterns (eg, "Xavier", "123", years, seasons, family names).
  • Your password should be unique. Do not reuse your Xavier password with other services, such as your financial institution or social media accounts.

After changing your password

  • Update your password on any other devices you own, to prevent lockouts.
  • Never post your password in plain sight, or enter it while in a crowded public place.
  • Never submit your credentials on a website unless it is a secure site.
Beware any unsolicited emails that entice you to click links or open attachments. Forward any suspicious emails immediately to abuse@xavier.edu.
